Idina Menzel participated in a virtual Passover seder last night! The event, called Saturday Night Seder, is free to watch and has raised over $375,000 for the CDC Foundation’s COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund. (Donate here.)
Idina sang a gorgeous rendition of “The Four Questions” in Hebrew. You can watch her performance above. She was also mentioned at the beginning in a cute bit, and she shared her wish for next year at the end of the show.
Idina Menzel joined The Rosie O’Donnell Show benefit for The Actors Fund on Sunday night. Idina spoke with Rosie about her attempts at cooking, home schooling and more while self isolating. She referenced this absolutely hilarious video of a mom ranting about trying to home school her 4 children. The night was a huge success – they raised over $500,000 for The Actors Fund. In June 2019, Idina Menzel moderated a talk back with author Eve Ensler at Live Talks Los Angeles and it was just made available online. Eve discussed her latest book, The Apology:
Like millions of women, Eve Ensler has been waiting much of her lifetime for an apology. Sexually and physically abused by her father, Eve has struggled her whole life from this betrayal, longing for an honest reckoning from a man who is long dead. After years of work as an anti-violence activist, she decided she would wait no longer; an apology could be imagined, by her, for her, to her. The Apology, written by Eve from her father’s point of view in the words she longed to hear, attempts to transform the abuse she suffered with unflinching truthfulness, compassion, and an expansive vision for the future.
It was a frank and unflinching conversation, so keep that in mind before watching.
Idina Menzel attended and performed at the 92nd Annual Academy Awards yesterday! Idina performed FROZEN II’s “Into The Unknown” with Aurora and nine international Elsas in a beautiful performance! Idina and the Elsas also spoke with Good Morning America on Saturday to tease the performance which was introduced by Josh Gad. Josh was great, saying: “The iconic and brilliant Idina Menzel, pronounced exactly as it is spelled.”
As if that weren’t enough, would it be an Idina Oscars without a viral moment? Idina’s face while Eminem performed “Lose Yourself” launched memes and articles, but this is my personal favorite.
