Idina Co-Hosting Wicked in Concert on PBS

Idina Menzel will reunite with Kristin Chenoweth to co-host Wicked in Concert: A Musical Celebration of the Iconic Broadway Score, a reimagining of the hit musical in an intimate concert setting! Wicked in Concert will feature re-imagined musical arrangements performed by artists like Ben Platt, Amber Riley, Alex Newell, Ariana DeBose, Jennifer Nettles, Sara Bareilles and more. No word yet if Idina will sing as well, but hopefully she will!

The concert was filmed in multiple locations, including Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, and New York City. The orchestra arrangements were created by Luke Frazier with members of the American Pops Orchestra. Tune in Sunday, August 29 at 9 p.m. on PBS, PBS.org, and the PBS Video App.

The official trailer for Cinderella has premiered! Watch above to get a few peeks of Idina in the role of the Stepmother! In this updated take on the classic movie, she is not going to be the evil Stepmother, so we’ll see how that plays out! You can also see the official poster below and in the gallery!

Cinderella is a musically-driven bold new take on the traditional story you grew up with. Our heroine (Camila Cabello) is an ambitious young woman whose dreams are bigger than the world will allow, but with the help of her Fab G (Billy Porter), she is able to persevere and make her dreams come true.

Written for the screen and directed by Kay Cannon with covers of songs written by some of the top-selling musical artists of all time, Cinderella has an all-star cast that includes Idina Menzel, Minnie Driver, Nicholas Galitzine, with Billy Porter and Pierce Brosnan.

The tracklist for Cinderella’s soundtrack has been released! Idina sings in five musical numbers including two solos! The majority of songs are covers, however Idina and Laura Veltz wrote “Dream Girl”. Getting to include her own original music was one of the reasons Idina signed onto the project. In case you don’t know, Idina will play the Stepmother in the film, which is described as a musically-driven bold new take on the traditional story you grew up with.

Amazon Prime premiered a first look at Cinderella! Idina Menzel plays the Stepmother in this modern re-imagining of the classic tale. If you watch closely, you’ll get a quick sneak peek at her character! We already know that Idina will perform an original song she wrote in the movie which will be released on Amazon Prime and in select theaters on September 3! Idina had this to say on Twitter;

WILD in Concert Starring Idina Menzel

American Repertory Theater at Harvard University announced their 2021-2022 season at their Spring Celebration on Saturday night and Idina Menzel is part of it! Idina will perform the World Premiere of WILD in Concert (in-person) in December 2021.They also premiered a demo of Idina singing the musical’s title track at the event!

WILD was previously titled ‘The Circle of Becoming’ and you may recall that Idina and her collaborators, Justin Tranter, Diane Paulus and V (formerly Eve Ensler) participated in a virtual behind the scenes event for the theater earlier this year. At the time it sounded like they were still in the very early stages of the project, so this is a very exciting surprise.

WILD is a new musical fable about a single mother struggling to hold on to her family farm and connect with her teenage daughter, whose determination to save the planet endows her and her friends with powers they never knew they had. Created by Tony and Obie Award-winning playwright V (formerly Eve Ensler, O.P.C., In the Body of the World, The Vagina Monologues), Grammy and Golden Globe-nominated songwriter Justin Tranter (Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Imagine Dragons) and songwriter Caroline Pennell (Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez), with contributions by Tony Award-winning performer and songwriter Idina Menzel (Rent, Wicked, Frozen), and directed by Diane Paulus, this concert presentation features Idina Menzel as a parent confronting what it means for her family and her community to survive in a world facing mass extinction.

Subscriptions go on sale in July and single tickets will go on sale at a later date, so stay tuned! I’ll post on-sale dates on social media so make sure you are following!
