Idina Menzel Will Be Honored With Disney Legends Award!

Disney has announced that Idina Menzel will be one of the recipients of the Disney Legends Award at this year’s ceremony! The Disney Legends Award is given to an individual who has made an extraordinary contribution to the Disney legacy. Congratulations, Idina, on this well-deserved award! You truly brought Elsa to life in a way that touched billions of people around the world.

As we know, Idina stars as Elsa in Frozen and Frozen II. Idina’s performance of the Oscar- and Grammy-winning song “Let It Go” became an international phenomenon, reaching No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and helped launch Frozen and Frozen II on their way to becoming the two highest-grossing animated movies of all time. Her songs have amassed billions of streams and she also reprised the role of Elsa in Disney’s Ralph Breaks The Internet and appeared in numerous animated shorts, theme park experiences and more. She also appeared as Nancy Tremaine in Enchanted and also reprised the role in the Disney+ sequel, Disenchanted, out this Thanksgiving.

The awards ceremony will take place at the D23 Expo kick-off event on Friday, September 9, at 10:30 a.m. in Hall D23 inside the Anaheim Convention Center. The event will be livestreamed and will feature musical performances, special guests, and surprises for the audience, including a special performance by cast members from Disney On Broadway’s productions of Aladdin and The Lion King, and The North American Tour of Frozen.

This year’s honorees also include her FROZEN castmates, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad among others. Will Frozen 3 also be announced at the event? Time will tell!

Idina & Cara’s Upcoming LOUD MOUSE Book Tour!

Idina Menzel and her sister, Cara Mentzel, have announced book tour dates for their upcoming children’s book, LOUD MOUSE! LOUD MOUSE is an illustrated book for kids ages 3-5 and will be released on September 27! Here’s the adorable synopsis:

Dee loves to sing. She sings during her morning yoga. She even sings while practicing her math facts. She usually sings to herself. But when her teacher asks everyone to share something with the class, Dee knows just what to bring: a song. And as Dee sings la, la, la, la, LOUDly in front of her class for the first time, something extraordinary happens. . . .

Some events are free and others charge “admission” but it is essentially just the cost of the book. Here’s the schedule so far:

  • Reading and book signing at Winston Square Bark in Winston-Salem, NC – September 24 at 9:30 AM (Free event, details here)
  • Book signing at Bookends in Ridgewood, NJ – September 29 at 6 PM (Tickets required)
  • Reading and photo op at Barnes & Noble in Union Square in NYC – October 1 at 2 PM (Tickets required, signed book is included)
  • Reading and photo op at Barnes & Noble at The Grove – Los Angeles, CA – October 2 at 2 PM (Tickets required, signed book is included)

Idina Menzel has joined Studio to lead a virtual class called BRINGING SONGS TO LIFE. The class will give you a front-row seat into Idina’s process for creating unique vocal performances. In this 30-day class, you’ll follow Idina’s lead in both originating a role and reimagining a role.

Idina Menzel & Adam Sandler Reunite in Netflix’s ‘You Are SO Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah!’

Netflix announced today that Idina Menzel will reunite with Adam Sandler in a new movie based on the young adult novel “You Are SO Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah!”. The movie is about a young girl whose bat mitzvah plans comedically unravel and threaten to ruin one of the most important events of her young life.

The ensemble cast also includes Sarah Sherman (Saturday Night Live), Sunny Sandler, Sadie Sandler, Luis Guzmán (Boogie Nights, Shameless), Ido Mosseri (Sandy Wexler, You Don’t Mess with the Zohan), Samantha Lorraine (The Walking Dead: World Beyond), Dylan Hoffman (Next), Dean Scott Vazquez (Transformers: Rise of The Beasts), Miya Cech (Always Be My Maybe), Ivory Baker, Dylan Dash (Adeline, The Great), Millie Thorpe (Ultra Violet & Black Scorpion), Zaara Kuttemperoor with Jackie Sandler.

Here’s a look at “American Murderer”, a new independent movie starring Tom Pelphrey, Ryan Phillippe, Idina Menzel and Jacki Weaver. The film, which is based on the true story of infamous conman and fugitive Jason Derek Brown, premiered at the Taormina Film Fest in Italy last month. This clip was shown at the event and it looks like Idina has a pretty big role! Idina’s involvement in the film was announced way back in 2020, but her role was not announced at the time.

The movie’s synopsis is as follows:

“American Murderer” is based on the true story of Jason Derek Brown, a charismatic crook who bankrolls his luxurious lifestyle through a series of scams. When his funds run low and his past catches up with him, he plots his most elaborate scheme yet and, in the process, becomes the FBI’s most unlikely — and elusive — top 10 fugitive. a charismatic crook who bankrolls his luxurious lifestyle through a series of scams.
