Idina Will Reprise Role As Elsa in New Frozen Special

Idina Menzel will reprise her role as Elsa in an original animated “Frozen” special starring the whole cast of characters, including Olaf, Anna, Kristoff and Sven. The special is directed by two-time Emmy Award-winning directors Kevin Deters and Stevie Wermers-Skelton, produced by Oscar(R)-winning producer Roy Conli and features the original voice cast! The currently untitled “Frozen” special will air Holidays 2017 (date TBA) on ABC.

“Frozen 2” is also being developed by Disney, though details are scarce! It has also been announced that Frozen is headed to Broadway in Spring 2018 with an out of town tryout in Summer 2017. Cast details, locations, etc. have not been announced. Could Idina join the Broadway show? We’ll see!

Idina Will Perform Let It Go at Disneyland

Idina Menzel will perform “Let It Go” on “The Wonderful World of Disney: Disneyland 60”, airing on ABC on February 21 from 8-10 Eastern. Idina will perform in Disney’s California Adventure Park against the backdrop of “World of Color,” the one-of-a-kind nighttime extravaganza. “Let If Go” has been featured in “World of Color” – you can watch that here – so it will be fun to see her perform it live there!

Fans watching the show at home can participate in the performance with the Disney Applause app. Applause delivers a second screen, interactive experience that will sync directly to the broadcast’s major musical segments, displaying colorful light shows and original content on viewers’ phones. Their display will be in harmony with the illuminated accessories worn by guests and elaborate lighting design during the performance. Disney Applause is available for iOS and Android.

Idina Menzel appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show on Monday! Idina chatted about her world tour, performing with Taylor Swift, and how she celebrates the holidays. Then Idina and Ellen played a pretty amusing game of giant Jenga. You can watch above starting at around 14:50.

Things have been pretty quiet as Idina Menzel continues the If/Then tour. This week the show opened at the Pantages theater in Los Angeles. I’ve added pics to the gallery:

On Monday, she will appear on The Ellen Degeneres Show and on Wednesday, she will appear on Good Day LA. I’ll post videos if they become available.

If you live in the Los Angeles area, make sure you check out Idina at the show! If/Then runs at Pantages until January 3. She will perform in San Diego, CA from 1/5 – 1/10, Tempe, AZ from 1/12 – 1/17, and wrap up her run in Costa Mesa, CA from 1/19-1/24. Idina’s Broadway standby, Jackie Burns, has officially been announced as Idina’s replacement in the remaining tour cities.
