Idina Menzel talks about her family in Boulder

Thanks to Idina Menzel, kids all around the world know all the words “Let it go” from the Frozen movie.

But the singer is also an accomplished actress who plans on stopping by Colorado twice this year.

First, she’ll play Red Rocks and August 11.

“It’s a magnificent place to play and I can’t wait to get back there,” Menzel told 9NEWS. “It’s important to me to really feel like I connect with everyone and even at Red Rocks this year – there’s still an intimacy about it and we can still have a real connection.”

During her downtime, she’ll have a chance to spend time with family.

“My mom and my sister [have lived] in Boulder for many, many years so the whole thing is perfect,” she said. “We go on some nice hikes – were not big on skiing – I mostly spend time with my mom and sister having girls time – even if that’s just staying in and watching some movies.”

Then in October, she’ll be in Denver, starring in the musical If/Then.

“I’m a creature of live performance and live theater and doing it every night of the week,”she said.
