dialogue: "Thank you... [Audience: We love you!] I LOVE YOU TOO! Thank you! I am so proud to be in a musical that celebrates women! That celebrates their strengths and their differences, and to be in the company of these women this evening is just a... a dream for me. Thank you so much. And Kristin Chenoweth... You are the grace and the light on that stage every night - This is something we built together and I love you. And Joe Mantello has had the faith in me for three and a half years and kicked my butt into this role! And Stephen Schwartz, for writing the most beautiful music someone could sing eight times a week and Winnie Holzman for giving the green girl a heart! And-And-And the producers: Mark Platt and David Stone and everyone -- and Tanya Travers, my voice teacher... and Heather Reynolds and Bonnie Bernstein and Joby Horrigan, and Joe Dulude and Al Annotto, who get me in and out of this silly green makeup every night. *laughs* And the cast: Joel Grey, Carole Shelley, Norbert Butz, the crew for getting me safe up and down and on the flying machine! *laughs* And my mother, my father, my sister, Cara and my grandmother are here tonight! And my -- Thank you for taking me to see Dreamgirls and Annie and everything growing up!... And my beautiful, beautiful husband who... who tells me he loves me every time I feel like the biggest loser. I love you so much! Thank you everybody!"

I will not try to explain what happened last night, because I know in time you will find a proper way in which to remember it. dialogue: [Seth:] "Ok, so here's a little clip of the chick we're about to talk with. I just, I love the flexibility of the riffing, so I'm just gonna show you a little clip, and then say a little phrase... about the flexibility. Ok, this is from a benefit we did for the Christopher Reeves Paralysis Foundation. *pauses and watches screen* I don't hear any RIFFING and/or sound!" [Idina:] "Big TITS though!" *laughing* [Seth:] "... Idina's heckling herself!!"

[Idina:] "Yes, actually, Lenny taught me how to be a good waitress! *laughs* He taught me how to whip the little people into line!! *laughs louder!* He told me, um, wait I've told this story... 'Cause old people are really mean to you on those things. And if you lecture them and you speak to them firmly, then they get really nice, so instead of being all 'Oh, I'm so sorry!' to ... *like angry old people* 'I said DECAF instead of caffeinated!!' You say *firmly* 'Ma'am! I'm working very HARD here! No you calm down and you give me a minute!' And then they say 'Oh, I'm so sorry!!'"

dialogue: [Seth:] "What did you have on your resume?" [Idina:] "I had LIES on my resume... I had a teacher at Circle on the Square who said 'If you haven't done it -- If you CAN do it... put it on!' So that if they ask you, um... If they ask you if you've ever done it, you can say 'No... But I could do it really well!'"

  • "Over the Moon"/Rent Audition | length: 0:39 | size: 764 KB
description: talking about her Broadway Rent callback
dialogue: [Idina:] "I got the thing back - 'Over the Moon' - and I had no idea what it was. I didn't read the script, nothing, and it just read to me as a sweet monologue. I didn't know it was supposed to be performance art, I didn't know anything -- So I went in and I just did it really realistic, you know? Like *sweet speaking voice* 'Last night I had a dream... I found myself in a desert. Called Cyberland. Hot.' (???) So Michael Greif, the director -- *laughs* And he let me do the whole THING like that!!! I called my mom, and I told her 'Mom, you know, what do you think this means?? I don't understand.' And like, she's a therapist, and she's like 'Well. It sounds like the woman's really been betrayed' and all this crap!"

  • Wild Party Death March! | length: 0:29 | size: 579 KB
description: asking about the changes to The Wild Party
dialogue: [Seth:] "But what about that song - When I saw the workshop of The Wild Party, "Raise the Roof"... your character sang "Raise the Roof", when was that given to Julia?" [Idina:] "I don't know, they did so many--I mean, I found out that they used to have like, people in body-bags at the end singing "Life of the Party" to like... a DEATH march! Like *deep, manly voice* 'Dontcha wanna be. The life of the party.'" [Seth:] "Really?" [Idina:] "Like Burrs and Black were dead and... like weird things." [Seth:] "Yeah, but I thought that she was electrocuted!... It was a TOTAL downer! At the very last beat or two, it was just 'BUM! BUM! Electrocution!!"

  • "Shrill and Obnoxious" | length: 0:31 | size: 616 KB
description: talking about the cast's trip to the Caribbean and bad reviews
dialogue: "We said if we didn't go to Broadway, if we got bad reviews from Ben Brantley, we were going to that day book a trip somewhere... the Caribbean or somewhere... Like the cast and go, so you have something to look forward to instead of feeling--'cause after you get a bad review, you're still sitting there doing the show for 3 weeks, and you have that like... QUOTE that he *laughs* says about you! MINE being... 'Shrill and...' I don't know 'obnoxious!' So every time you come out and I sing a loud note, I'm like 'LA!AAaaa....*gets quiet*'"

  • Wild Party Peeing Blooper | length: 1:54 | size: 2.17 MB
dialogue: [Idina:] "There was like this soundbox! LITERALLY, a soundbox in a toilet, and I would sit on it and hike up my skirt - Even though I had other, you know, underwear and pantyhoes and stuff... and um, one night the thing didn't go off. I should have known, it was like big deal, 'cause I could have been sitting on the toilet, it STILL would have been funny. You know, nobody knows that there's supposed to be all this peeing going on and stuff! But in my head, it was like a MAJOR foul-up going on! 'Oh my god! The sound effect doesn't come on!' I start laughing again and start squeezing my legs together again--AND I'm sitting on a toilet, which is horrible! And the peeing also became very important, because Brian d'Arcy James, who plays Burrs, was a clown, a mad clown... And he needed the peeing time in order to go over to his drunken state over at the bathtub and apply all this clown makeup, so you... it's important. And he got nervous because there I am, just sitting, and there's no sound carrying the joke forward, and you don't have to joke if you don't have the sound... And so he goes--I'm laughing, and he says, 'Take your TIME please!' or something like that! and I'm like 'Oh don't worry Burrsy!' you know... He goes, 'Make sure you WIPE!!' *laughing* and we're OFF book now! I'm hysterically laughing, and he says 'Make sure you wipe', I say *girly Kate voice* 'Oh Burrsy! You know I always drip and dry!' And it keeps going, and then all of a sudden, in the middle, the PEEING comes on! And so I was just hysterical, and -- Is Steve here?" [Steve:] "Uh-huh!! uh-huh!" [Idina:] "Oh, Steve's here--He says that I took a sledgehammer to the 4th wall...[Steve: SHE DID!]... at this moment... be-CAUSE... I said 'THANK YOU!!' to the Sound Man in the back!! *laughs!* I don't think the audience knew WHAT that was... it was like 'THANK YOU! for finally getting your shit together, you ASS!!'"

  • "Super Slow Mo" | length: 0:35 | size: 686 KB
dialogue: "During the Olympics, I was actually at sleep-away camp, and we couldn't watch it - So that when we came home, my friend had video taped like hours of the Mary Lou Rhetton gymnastics that we had missed. I don't know!'"

  • "Kielbasa??" | length: 0:23 | size: 452 KB
