Taye Diggs and his wife, Idina Menzel, are expecting a son, In Touch Weekly is reporting.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey are so excited to have a boy,\u201d an insider says. \u201cTaye especially is over the moon and can\u2019t stop talking about all the things he\u2019ll do with him!\u201d The baby is due later this year.<\/p>\n
The Private Practice star, 38, and the Tony award-winning actress, 37, first met on the original 1996 Broadway production of Rent in NYC. After seven years of dating, they got married in January 2003 reports US.<\/p>\n
Idina Menzel reached superstardom on Broadway in two career-defining roles-her Tony Award winning performance in the musicAl Blockbuster \u201cWicked\u201d and in the revolutionary \u201cRent.\u201d Idina\u2019s debut album, I Stand is a powerful collection of new songs. The role earned Menzel her first Tony nomination and the musical went on to win four Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Prize.<\/p>\n
In 2003, Idina originated the role of \u201cthe green girl,\u201d the misunderstood witch in the hit musical \u201cWicked\u201d which included her show-stopping performance of the song \u201cDefying Gravity.\u201d In 2007, she re-recorded and remixed \u201cGravity\u201d and the song went on to become a Top 5 hit on the Billboard Dance Chart. Her star turn in \u201cWicked\u201d won her a Tony Award and huge critical acclaim. Other credits include two Drama Desk nominations for her roles in \u201cThe Wild Party\u201d and \u201cSee What I Wanna See\u201d at The Public Theatre. Film credits include starring roles in the Disney romantic fable, \u201cEnchanted,\u201d \u201cRent\u201d and Robert Towne\u2019s \u201cAsk The Dust.<\/p>\n
Taye Diggs currently appears on ABC-TV\u2019s \u2018Private Practice\u2019. His television credits also include \u2018Kevin Hill\u2019 (UPN), \u2018Ally McBeal\u2019 (Fox), and \u2018Daybreak\u2019 (ABC). His feature film credits include How Stella Got Her Groove Back, Brown Sugar, Chicago, Rent, and others. Diggs\u2019 Broadway credits include Rent, Wicked, and Chicago.<\/p>\n
