Idina Menzel is having a hard time on the dating scene following her divorce from Taye Diggs in December after 10 years of marriage.
\nCutting straight to the point, Menzel spoke candidly with Valentine in the Morning, about her experience dating as a single mother, and from the sound of things, she has had a hard time of it so far.
\nIn three short words she summed it up: \u201cIt all sucks,\u201d she said.
\nOne of the issues she has with finding love again is the effect it might have on her four-year-old son Walker:<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t want to keep introducing him to people and having him form bonds and then take \u2019em away, you know. It\u2019s bad enough his mom and dad are getting divorced.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Following that interview, Idina Menzel\u2019s ex, Taye Diggs, hit the red carpet with his new girlfriend, Amanda Smith Brown, at the recent BET Awards. They have been dating for quite a while according to reports, and that probably doesn\u2019t make Idina feel any better about her situation.
\nHowever, being a young mother, Menzel is smart to choose carefully who and who not to date, especially as the tabloid press are waiting in the wings, as hungry as ever for a tidbit of gossip.
\nIt also seems that Idina Menzel herself can relate to the difficulties of coming from a broken home, as her parents divorced when she was a teenager:<\/p>\n\u201cI went through it when I was 15 years old. I keep telling myself, because I feel so badly for him, it\u2019s better that he\u2019s 4-and-a half than when he\u2019s 15. He has two parents that love him very much and we want to be great moms and dads. At 15, I was too aware. I thought I was an adult, and I got in the middle of everything and I took on the stress for both of them.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
