Hot off her heels from Japan, Idina Menzel dazzled an excited crowd Wednesday night at the Sands Event Center.\u00a0 Out on the road for her 50 cities 2017 World tour, Menzel kicked off her state side concerts right here in Bethlehem.\u00a0 \u201cI think it was a good move to come back after Japan and start it off here,\u201d Menzel happily stated.<\/p>\n
Throughout the show, one thing was certain.\u00a0 Menzel cannot be nailed down to one genre of music.\u00a0 The music ran the gamut with a mix of her latest release, \u201cIdina\u201d, Broadway tunes such as \u201cSeasons of Love\u201d, \u201cI\u2019m Not That Girl\u201d, \u201cFor Good\u201d, and \u201cDefying Gravity\u201d, and threw in \u201cBridge Over Troubled Water\u201d (Simon and Garfunkel), Dear Prudence (The Beatles), and a snippet of the hard rocking \u201cBlack Dog\u201d (Led Zepplin), which was added towards the end of \u201cCake\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0 She joked with the crowd, \u201cI\u2019m glad I got that out of my system.\u201d<\/p>\n
Menzel owned the stage, with a stage presence so high, the crowd was entranced with her mezzo-soprano vocals during \u201cDon\u2019t Rain on My Parade\u201d, and \u201cWind Beneath My Wings\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0 She paid tribute to Jonathan Larson, creator of Rent, who passed away the day before the Broadway debut, with \u201cNo Day But Today\u201d.\u00a0 She sat down at the edge of the stage and became soft spoken and said, \u201c I realized how important it is to embrace every moment and be present.\u201d<\/p>\n
For the children in the audience, their favorite song, \u201cLet it Go\u201d, from the Disney movie Frozen, came towards the end of the set, as the children were encouraged to join Menzel at the stairs leading up to the stage in a full sing a long.\u00a0 It was endearing, and reinforced Menzel\u2019s love for children.<\/p>\n
It was a night of musical magic, where every song performed was an instant crowd favorite.\u00a0 For this Tony and Grammy award winning artist, Menzel brought an array of the best of the best as she won the entire audience over.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
