FASHION’S NIGHT OUT

August 26, 2010 @ 11:56 am

It’s been reported on Refinery29 New York that Idina will be participating in this year’s “Fashion’s Night Out,” the biggest public fashion show in New York City and the largest shopping event of the year. She will be joining Bravo’s Project Runway host Michael Kors at his Madison Avenue boutique for a few duets. Apparently, Mr. Kors is a singer! Who knew?

Fashion’s Night Out is September 10th. Kors’ event has not yet announced a time. Check back for more details soon!

A DAY OUT FOR THE DIGGSES

August 23, 2010 @ 10:34 am

The Diggses? The Diggs? What is the plural of “Diggs” when it’s a name? I sure as heck am not going to throw an apostrophe in it…hmm….oh, sorry!

I don’t generally like dedicating a whole news update to photos taken by paparazzi, but these photos are really too cute to ignore. We haven’t seen new photos of Walker in several months and with his first birthday less than two weeks away, we finally get to see just how much he’s grown! Time sure does fly.

Taken yesterday at the Farmers’ Market in Los Angeles, the below photos are collected from gossip blog sites. Many of them are tagged with the source site’s logo; sorry about that. If I’m able to replace them with untagged or higher quality photos, I will.

MR. PRESIDENT, YOUR SALAD IS NOW BEING SERVED

August 17, 2010 @ 7:46 pm

Yesterday, Idina was the dinner entertainment at a high-dollar glitzy fundraiser for the Democratic Party held in a private residence in Los Angeles. President Obama was in attendance, as was Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and a number of other Washington and Hollywood heavy-hitters. This marks the second time Idina has been invited to perform for President Obama, and the fourth time she has performed for the incumbent President (Clinton during RENT, Bush at the Kennedy Center Honors, Obama at the White House, and this event). Not too shabby!

You can read about this event in the LA Times.

p.s. I hadn’t posted about this here yet since I had hoped we’d get some photos, but none have surfaced. :( Darn private events.

SESAME STREET ANNOUNCED

August 10, 2010 @ 9:19 pm

The Sesame Workshop put out a press release today announcing the 41st season of children’s television classic Sesame Street. They have confirmed that Idina and Taye will be guest stars on an upcoming episode and will be in the “Word of the Day” segment, presenting the word “allergic.” A still from the episode has also been revealed, though the air date for their episode has not yet been confirmed (we’ll tweet it when we know). Cute!

In case you missed E!’s report on this back in March, you can watch a quick clip from the Sesame set below.

PBS PRESS TOUR

August 04, 2010 @ 7:56 pm

PBS is conducting their Summer 2010 Television Critics Association Press Tour this evening, and Idina was asked to be a panelist to discuss her experience performing for the Obamas at the White House in July as part of In Performance at the White House: A Broadway Celebration. There’s a chance that PBS may upload the session to their YouTube, but if not, at least attendees were nice enough to Tweet some quotes from her:

On getting the call to perform at the White House: “What a milestone in my life. gave myself a little pat on the back.”

On her Wicked audition: “When I left the audition I went hysterical crying because the role makes you open yourself up so much.”

On Glee: “Somehow, roundabout, Glee is helping people gain a respect for the theater and I’m fortunate to be part of both.”

About performing for President Obama: “I had cotton mouth. I perhaps spit on the President.”

And, of course, HQ photos!

In Performance at the White House: A Broadway Celebration will air on PBS affiliates October 20th. Check your local listings to confirm time and date when it nears.
