It’s been announced today that Idina will be participating in the 2008 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade! She will be on a float singing a yet-to-be-determined song. More details will be posted once they become available.

Potentially related to this performance is the release of Idina’s new single, entitled “Hope.” She recorded the track at Abbey Road Studios while in London last month promoting ‘I Stand.’ The single should be released on iTunes in the US next week (subject to change) – all proceeds will go to the STAND UP 2 CANCER charity.

November 4 is election day in the US and Idina’s made her voice heard several times this season when it comes to everyone exercising their right to vote. She filmed a little reminder for everyone who can needs to get out and vote in the 2008 presidential election!

While she was in London last month, Idina recorded a duet with X-Factor runner-up Rhydian Roberts. The song is titled “What If” and will appear on Rhydian’s album which is released in the UK on 24 November. I do not know if it will have a US release, but it’s currently available for streaming as part of a broadcast on a BBC radio program.

Trivia: This song is actually a cover of a Kate Winslet (yes, really!) song that she recorded in 2001 for the soundtrack of Christmas Carol: The Movie. The single went to #1 in Ireland and #6 in the UK!
