Idina Menzel has signed on to star in a remake of Beaches for Lifetime! The original Beaches starred Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey and featured the classic song “Wind Beneath My Wings”.  Idina will play CC, a cynical aspiring singer who develops a lifelong friendship with a debutante named Hillary at the Venice boardwalk in Los Angeles.

Per EW, the movie is expected to feature new takes on “Wind Beneath My Wings” and “The Glory of Love” and include several other songs recorded specifically for the movie!

Production on the remake will begin Aug. 15 in Vancouver and the movie will premiere on Lifetime in 2017.

Idina Menzel performed “What The World Needs Now” at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, PA last night!

Idina sang alongside Brian Stokes Mitchell, Lena Hall, Alice Ripley, Ben Vereen, Tyne Daly, Debra Messing, Kristin Bell, Audra McDonald, Darren Criss, Stephanie J. Block, Adrienne Warren, Len Cariou, Richard Kind, Tom Wopat, Wilson Cruz, Michael Longoria, Rosie Perez, Ann Hampton Callaway, Liz Callaway, Nicholas Callaway Foster, Olga Merediz, Michelle Collins, Jon Viktor Corpuz, Sharon Gless, Roz Ryan, Mary Ann Hu, Anika Larsen, Margaret Stallings, Eve Plumb, Montego Glover, Michael Urie, Carmen Cusak, Darius de Haas, Melissa Errico, Janet Metz, as well as Broadway for Orlando creators Van Dean of Broadway Records, Seth Rudetsky, James Wesley, and their daughter, Juli Wesley.

Of course, Idina was part of the “Broadway For Orlando” project, which benefits the LGBT Center of Central Florida.

Idina Appears in “Fight Song” Supporting Hillary Clinton

Idina Menzel appears in a star-studded video supporting Hillary Clinton, which debuted during the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday! The video is an a cappella version of Rachel Platten’s hit anthem, “Fight Song.”

Idina also performed at a private event at the convention earlier in the day. Idina posted a short video on Twiter.
