Idina Announces Idina’s Treehouse

On Monday, December 28 Idina Menzel will debut a new kid-friendly series! Idina’s Treehouse will feature story-time, sing-along musical performances, and more from the treehouse in Idina’s own backyard. She built the treehouse for her son Walker, but he rarely uses it. We got a look at the treehouse when Idina performed on Houseparty’s “In The House” series earlier this year. Idina said she got the idea for the show after recording a song in the treehouse earlier this year. She needed a creative outlet and something to do while isolating at home so this was her project! Idina’s sister Cara, a school teacher, will also make appearances on the show.

Idina Participates in ‘You’re A Green One, Mr. Finch’

Idina Menzel participated in the Broadway Green Alliance’s virtual fundraiser, ‘You’re a Green One, Mr. Finch’ last night! The musical comedy follows the untold story of Mr. Finch, the Grinch’s disgruntled cousin, as he sets about to make the holiday season all about him but instead learns what it really means to have a green and sustainable holiday. Idina had a short scene which is above.

The stream also featured Elizabeth Stanley, George Salazar, Javier Muñoz, Michael James Scott, The Fates of Hadestown (Jewelle Blackman, Yvette Gonzalez-Nacer, and Kay Trinidad), DeAnne Stewart and Laurel Harris, Ben Cameron, Ann Harada, Lesli Margherita, and the Broadway Princess Party, featuring Susan Egan, Laura Osnes, and Courtney Reed.

Donations to BCEFA are encouraged to support the Broadway Green Alliance, which was not able to receive its annual funds this year due to the pandemic. Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is generously matching donations up to $15,000, for a total match challenge of $30,000.

Virtual Event: Behind The Scenes of ‘The Circle of Becoming’

Virtual Event: Behind The Scenes of ‘The Circle of Becoming’

American Repertory Theater at Harvard University has announced that Idina Menzel is part of their new Behind the Scenes series with the writers, directors, and composers who are making work at the A.R.T! On March 2, Idina will join Playwright V (formerly Eve Ensler), songwriter Justin Tranter, and director Diane Paulus in a virtual event to share music and stories about the development of “The Circle of Becoming”, a wild new musical fairy tale about a teenage girl and her posse whose determination to save the planet endows them with powers they never knew they had.

The event is on sale now. Single tickets are $20 and there is also a pay-what-you-can option. Following the events, ten raffle-winning ticket holders, the series sponsors, and all A.R.T. donors of $500 or more will be eligible to continue the conversation “backstage” in the Virtual Green Room with the artists and A.R.T. staff.

Idina has been teasing this project for quite some time, so I can’t wait to see and hear what they’ve been working on!

Idina Headlines The USO’s MVP Holiday Special!

Idina Menzel headlined The USO’s MVP Holiday Special with a concert performance last night! It was a wonderful show so I highly recommend you check it out above. A few standouts for me were “At This Table” with her co-writer, Jonas Myrin, a newly arranged “Defying Gravity” and a new song called “Just A Breath Away (Noel). It was a very special event celebrating our service men and women. Idina spoke ahead of the event and you can watch her interview here:
