Upcoming Shows – CA, PA, & NYC

Idina will take part in a tribute concert to the late, great Marvin Hamlisch on January 29th with the Pittsburg Symphony Orchestra.  From the PSO website:

Join your PSO for a special one-night-only tribute concert celebrating the life and music of Marvin Hamlisch.  With three Oscars, four Emmys, four Grammys, two Golden Globes, a Tony and a Pulitzer to his name, Marvin Hamlisch truly was “One Singular Sensation.”  His indelible body of work includes such legendary hits as “The Way We Were” and “One (Singular Sensation)” from the scores he wrote for more than 40 films and eight Broadway shows, including A Chorus Line.

The evening brings together your PSO and an amazing array of stars.  To date, the guest artists joining the PSO include:

  • Tony Award-winner and Broadway star Idina Menzel singing “What I Did for Love” and “At the Ballet,”
  • Lucie Arnaz and Robert Klein, the original stars of Marvin’s Broadway show They’re Playing Our Song,
  • the incomparable singer and pianist Kevin Cole,
  • celebrated English actress and singer Maria Friedman,
  • the All-Star College Chorus, under the direction of Robert Page, and
  • acclaimed conductor J. Ernest Green.

We know more guest artists will be joining this stellar group, so please continue to visit this page for updates.  All net proceeds benefit the Marvin Hamlisch Pops Artistic Excellence Fund.  Many thanks go to PNC for its generous support of this special concert.

PSO subscribers have priority access to tickets for One Singular Sensation: A Tribute to Marvin Hamlisch during a two-week subscriber presale, beginning Monday, December 3, at 9 a.m.  To learn more about subscribing, call 412-392-4900 or click here.

And the re-rescheduled Carnegie Hall show is January 13th.  Lots of big shows! I can’t wait to hear about them all!

Will a third Carnegie Hall date be the charm?

Will a third Carnegie Hall date be the charm?

Let’s all cross our fingers from now until January 13th that Idina’s now double rescheduled Carnegie Hall will occur!  Because of the street closures around Carnegie Hall and, as Idina said, “Frankencrane,” the concert originally rescheduled for this Sunday is now January 13th.  All tickets for the original date will be honored in January.  If you have any questions, call Carnegie at 212-247-7800.

Also next year, Idina will be participating in Lincoln Center’s American Songbook concert series on March 1st along with Brian D’Arcy James and Alice Ripley.  They’ll be honoring Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey.  More information to come later.  You can see the 2013 lineup of the American Songbook series here.

This weekend, I’ll be updating the gallery with new pics that have been sent in from fans from past concerts.  If you have some you’d like to share, please email me at Jill(at)idina-here.com.

While news and going-ons are rather slow right now as Idina prepares for the next set of concerts, I found something new to entertain ourselves!  I’ve compiled some screenshots of Idina’s official site from over the years and I thought it’d be fun to share.  Click on the image below to go to the page for more.

Some Updates

Some Updates

The overwhelming favorite song from this tour in last month’s poll was…

Defying Gravity and Somewhere Over the Rainbow/The Wizard & I were second and third place.

More information is trickling out about Disney’s new movie, Frozen, which will feature Idina as the voice of the Snow Queen.

Blurb from Disney:

“In Frozen, a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, so Anna (voice of Kristen Bell) must team up with Kristoff, a daring mountain man, on the grandest of journeys to find the Snow Queen (voice of Idina Menzel) and put an end to the icy spell. Encountering Everest-like extremes, mystical creatures and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom from destruction.”

And more from the Comic Book Industry’s the Bleeding Cool:

“When Anna is cursed by her estranged sister, the cold-hearted Snow Queen, Anna’s only hope of reversing the curse is to survive a perilous but thrilling journey across an icy and unforgiving landscape. Joined by a rugged, thrill-seeking outdoorsman, his one-antlered reindeer and a hapless snowman, Anna must race against time, conquer the elements and battle an army of menacing snowmen if she ever hopes to melt her frozen heart.”

The film won’t be out until November 2013, so we have a long, long wait!
