“ENCHANTED” PROMO STILLS

October 30, 2007 @ 4:21 pm

Finally, Disney has released some good promotional stills online from Enchanted that actually feature Idina! I’ve added the two images below to the Gallery, and am currently looking for good quality versions of a few pictures that were featured in a children’s book on the film. The scans I received just weren’t doing the images justice, so hopefully I’ll be able to add those to the album soon!

Edit: I’ve added HQ versions of the above pictures, thanks to Kell for sending them to me!

On another note: Remember to go to Idina’s newly updated official site to sign up for the mailing list and to create a fan profile!

“ENCHANTED” EXPLANATION

October 30, 2007 @ 11:01 am

Hey everyone! I know you all have been as curious as I was about what exactly happened with Idina’s reported song in Enchanted. I hurriedly contacted one of Idina’s managers, and she was extremely helpful in finding out what went down. To quote her:

“Actually Idina’s character was never intended to sing but because it was Idina the producers played around with a song for her. Ultimately it was abandoned because the number didn’t serve the story. I got the expectation that Idina would sing but I’m happy to report she was hired for her acting chops. The film is great and she’s thrilled to be a part of it.”

Thanks so much to Heather for keeping us posted. It’s nice to know that the decision was made for the betterment of the film. smile Maybe we’ll see something about the cut song on the DVD’s special features. *fingers crossed*

BEOWULF SOUNDTRACK DELAYED + ENCHANTED NEWS

October 26, 2007 @ 8:53 pm

I just discovered that, for some reason unbeknownst to be, the release of the Beowulf movie soundtrack as been pushed back to December 4, 2007. The movie can still be seen starting November 16th, which means Idina’s song during the credits can be heard beginning then too – you’ll just have to go and see it! Sad, I was looking forward to it coming out in a couple weeks, but alas, what can you do?? wassat

Also, some good and bad news on the topic of Enchanted

Good news: you can now preview the entire Enchanted movie soundtrack on the film’s official MySpace
Bad news: it looks like Idina’s song, which she recorded for the film, is not featured on the CD (and apparently, was cut out of the film.) I’m not sure why this is, if it was just replaced by another song by another artist or what, but I promise I’ll find out as much as I can. I’m just as disappointed as you all, since I know we were so looking forward to hearing her sing in the movie.

“BEOWULF” SOUNDTRACK + PREMIERE

October 20, 2007 @ 1:26 pm

I definitely wanted to wait until I got this all confirmed before reporting back, but I’ve been informed that Idina was slated to record a song for the new Robert Zemeckis film, Beowulf, which comes out in theaters in the US on November 16th (worldwide release dates can be found here.) The song is titled “A Hero Comes Home”, and it’s produced by Glen Ballard specifically for the film. The song will be featured on the movie’s soundtrack, which will be released on November 13th.

While at WBR yesterday, I was able to hear the song, and it truly is beautiful and epic – very different from her solo material, but incredible nonetheless (it may well be one of my fav tracks of hers right now – I’m a sucker for songs in movies. wassat) It incorporates the intensity of the film’s score, and begins to play at the end of the film through the closing credits. This makes the song eligible for an Academy Award nomination for Best Song (and from what I’ve heard, both the studio and WBR have high hopes for it in that aspect.)

As a result of Idina’s involvement in the film, she will be attending the Los Angeles Beowulf premiere on November 5th, and may be involved in further press junkets for the film. Any further information will be posted once I find out about it.
