IDINA & TAYE EXPECTING!

IDINA & TAYE EXPECTING!

Time for some EXTREMELY exciting news! Idina & Taye have confirmed exclusively to Us Magazine that they are expecting their first child later this summer.

After 13 years together, Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel are expecting their first baby, their rep exclusively confirms to Usmagazine.com. The baby is due later this year.

The Private Practice star, 38, and the Tony award-winning actress, 37, first met on the original 1996 Broadway production of Rent in NYC. After seven years of dating, they got married in January 2003.

Menzel hinted to Us last January that once she finished promoting her third solo album, I Stand, she would consider starting a family with Diggs.

“It’s definitely in the plans,” she told Us. “I’ll settle down and start popping out some babies.”

She said Diggs has been ready for kids since “the day I met him.”

“He wouldn’t talk about marriage, but he’d talk about me having his children,” she told Us. “He’s always wanted kids. He grew up with four younger brothers and sisters, so he’s very comfortable around children.”

How do they keep their marriage together?

“We just really work hard to try to stay best friends,” Menzel told Us. “I love him so much, and I feel like we both have each other’s backs, and we have a great respect for each other. We’re enjoying each new phase of our lives together.”

Feel free to leave your well-wishes to the happy couple in the comments here. She will see them all.

And since we all can’t throw a baby shower for Idina – and I know we all want to! – I would like to ask everyone to donate to Idina’s Stand Up 2 Cancer team rather than sending gifts. I’m sure she’ll get plenty of those from friends and family. laughing

Congratulations! smile

TOUR WRAP-UP

TOUR WRAP-UP

Well, my friends, Idina’s spring I Stand tour has come to an end! I had a blast at the couple shows I was able to attend, and I’ve read tons of awesome reviews. Were you able to catch a show? If so, feel free to leave a review in the comments here!

In the latter part of the tour, Idina debuted two brand new songs she wrote on the road, entitled “Spiraling” and “Butterfly.” They’re both gorgeous – though “Butterfly” is my personal favorite. smile You can listen to clips of them in the Original Music media section.

Also, as everyone is now accustomed to, I’m collecting concert photos for our gallery. We already have a good collection going, but a few shows are missing photos (Portsmouth, Alexandria, Glenside, & Brookville), so if you happened to take some nice, stealth photos at these (or other) shows without pissing off Idina with your flash, we’d love to add them! Just zip up the HQ images and e-mail them to me, telling me which show they’re from and how you’d like to be credited. Feel free to browse the images we’ve already added by clicking on the thumbnails below.

For those who were unable to watch last night’s episode of “Private Practice,” Jill was kind enough to upload a compilation of her adorably wonderful scenes. Idina plays “Lisa King,” a single mother whose son is being treated by Tim Daly’s character, Dr. Pete Wilder.

You can visit the TV section of the Media page to download it, or watch it on YouTube below. Thanks Jill!

24 HOUR MUSICALS

Playbill is reporting that Idina will be participating in this year’s rendition of the “24 Hour Musicals” on April 13 in New York. It sounds fun, I wish I could go! I hope some of you can. smile

As previously announced, the second annual 24 Hour Musicals will be held April 13 at The Gramercy Theatre in Manhattan.

An initial list of artists who will be part of the one-night-only event has been announced: Idina Menzel, Bebe Neuwirth, Cheyenne Jackson, Alicia Witt, Rachel Dratch, Mo Rocca, Stephen Pasquale, Tracie Thoms, Jonathan Marc Sherman, Ted Sperling, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Tamara Tunie.

The fundraiser is billed as “a celebrity charity challenge where stars from theatre, film, TV and rock unite to create four brand new musicals in one day.”

The evening, presented by Exchange, will benefit the Orchard Project. Show time at the Gramercy is 8 PM. A VIP after party will be held at the National Arts Club.
